Changing your password
How to change your account password.
You can update your password at any time from Account settings. boveDAM enforces a minimum length and signs out any other active sessions when a password change is saved, protecting your account in case a device or session has been compromised.
How to change your password
- Click your avatar in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
- Select Account settings.
- Open the Security tab.
- Click Change password.
- Enter your current password in the first field.
- Enter your new password — it must be at least 12 characters long.
- Re-enter the new password to confirm.
- Click Save password.
Your password is updated immediately. Any sessions on other devices — a laptop you left logged in at the office, a phone browser, or a previous incognito window — are signed out within a few seconds. The session you are currently using remains active so you are not interrupted mid-task.
Password requirements
- Minimum 12 characters
- No maximum length (use a passphrase if you prefer)
- boveDAM does not enforce special character or number requirements, but longer and more varied passwords are always stronger
- boveDAM does not store your password in plain text — it is hashed before storage
If you forgot your password
If you cannot remember your current password, you cannot use the Change password flow in Account settings because it requires your current password as verification. Instead, use the password reset flow from the login screen:
- Go to app.bovedam.com.
- Click Forgot password? on the login screen.
- Enter your account email address and click Send reset link.
- Check your inbox for an email from
no-reply@bovedam.comwith a reset link. - Click the link — it is valid for 1 hour.
- Enter and confirm your new password (minimum 12 characters).
- Click Set new password.
After resetting, all active sessions are signed out and you are redirected to the login screen.
Recommended practices
A strong password policy reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your workspace and your clients' assets. A few recommendations:
- Use a password manager. Tools like 1Password, Bitwarden, or macOS Keychain can generate and store a strong unique password for boveDAM without you needing to remember it.
- Do not reuse passwords. Using the same password across multiple services means a breach on one site can expose all of them.
- Change your password if you suspect a compromise. If you see unfamiliar activity in your workspace — unexpected logins, assets you did not upload, invitations you did not send — change your password immediately and review active sessions.
- Log out of shared devices. If you access boveDAM from a shared or public computer, always sign out when done rather than relying on session expiry.
