Assets
Uploading single and bulk
How to upload one or many assets at once.
Two ways to upload
You can get files into any portal section in two ways.
Click to upload. Open a section and click Upload files in the top right. A file picker opens. Select one file or hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) to select multiple. Confirm and the upload begins.
Drag and drop. Drag files from your desktop or file manager directly onto a section card. A drop target highlights to confirm the zone is active. Release to begin the upload. You can drag a single file or a batch of any size.
Both methods support the same file types. See Supported file types for the full list.
Bulk uploads and per-file progress
When you upload multiple files at once, each file gets its own progress indicator. You can see which files are uploading, which are processing, and which are ready — all in the same upload panel.
If one file fails mid-batch — for example, a 600 MB video uploaded to a Studio plan — only that file fails. The rest of the batch continues. Failed files show an error indicator with a brief reason (such as "File too large"). You can retry a failed file individually without re-uploading the rest.
There is no limit on how many files you can include in a single batch. Very large batches may take longer to start, as files are queued before uploading begins.
Upload states
Every file goes through three states before it appears in the portal.
Uploading. The file is transferring to boveDAM servers. Progress is shown as a percentage.
Processing. The file has arrived. boveDAM is generating a thumbnail and verifying the file. This takes a few seconds for most files, and up to a minute for large videos or high-resolution images.
Ready. The file is published in the portal and visible to clients.
Assets in the Uploading or Processing state are not visible to clients. They appear only to editors and workspace members. This means you can start uploading a full brand package and clients will only see each file once it has fully processed and is confirmed ready.
If a file gets stuck in Processing for more than five minutes, check the error indicator. Common causes include files that are corrupt, password-protected PDFs, or video files with unusual codecs.
