Supported file types
The file formats boveDAM supports for upload, preview, and download.
Supported formats by category
boveDAM accepts most common brand asset formats. Files are organized by category below. Any format not on this list is accepted too — it uploads without error, but shows a generic file icon and no preview is generated.
| Category | Formats |
|---|---|
| Images | JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG, TIFF, HEIC |
| Documents | PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX |
| Video | MP4, MOV, WebM |
| Audio | MP3, WAV, FLAC |
| Fonts | WOFF2, WOFF, OTF, TTF |
| Archives | ZIP |
Previews and thumbnails by format
Different formats get different treatment inside the portal.
Images receive a full thumbnail and an inline lightbox preview. SVG files render natively — a brand logo in SVG stays crisp at any zoom level.
PDFs generate a thumbnail from the first page. A client opening a brand guide will see that cover as the card image, and can page through the document inline.
Videos get a thumbnail captured at 10% of total duration — enough to show meaningful content rather than a blank first frame. Video is preview-only. boveDAM does not re-encode or transcode uploaded video files. The original file is stored and delivered exactly as uploaded.
Audio and fonts show a generic icon. There is no waveform preview or font specimen rendering in the current version.
ZIP archives pass through unchanged. Clients download the exact file you uploaded.
Unsupported formats upload and store at full fidelity. They display a generic file icon in the portal. Clients can still download them normally.
File size limits per plan
The maximum size for an individual file depends on your plan.
| Plan | Max file size |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 MB |
| Studio | 200 MB |
| Agency | 500 MB |
These limits apply per file, not per session. You can upload multiple files at once; each is checked individually against the limit. A file that exceeds the limit will fail to upload without affecting other files in the same batch.
For total workspace storage limits and what happens when you reach your quota, see File size and quota.
